Elite Durban girls’ school under fire over racism allegations

Durban Girls’ College has become one of a string
of private schools to be embroiled in allegations of racism and
censorship in the last week.
The allegations were brought to the fore just last week following the police brutality case against George Floyd in the USA.
Floyd was an African American man who died in police custody. His death sparked worldwide protests against police violence.

A week after his death, #BlackOutTuesday was the number one trend on Twitter. This movement spread like wildfire on social media and saw many, including brands, posting solemn messages against stark black backgrounds using #BlackLivesMatter.

Amid the growing numbers of the public taking to social media to share their commentary and outrage of this incident, Durban Girls' College allegedly sent the below message to its students:
