Sometimes in life you need to speak to truly be heard. Seeking professional advice and having someone who will be there for you objectively makes all the difference.

Stacey and J Sbu reached out to fellow East Coasters about what life lessons they have learnt with the help of their therapist.
Here are some life lessons shared by Stacey and J Sbu:
- Be the best version of yourself ever chance you've got
- Always overdeliver
- When you say "I love you", mean it
- Don't judge other people by their relatives
- Prioritise spending time alone
- Surround yourself with good people
- Smile when you pick up the phone. People hear it in your voice
- Remember who you are
- Pride comes for the inside. Cultivate excellence
- If you don't build your dreams, someone will hire you to build theirs
- You are strong
- If it's not gonna matter in 5 years don't spend more than 5 minutes getting upset by it
- You are only as good as your mindset
Here are some tips when it comes to leaning on people for support:
- Do not be deterred by the stigma
- Recognising your difficulty is the first step
- Write down your thoughts
- Reach out to people closest to you
- Set a designated time to talk about your struggle
- Seek counselling and professional help

Seeking help
It is important to seek help before suffering from other health conditions brought on by stress.
The South African Depression and Anxiety Group has a 24-hour helpline which you can contact on 0800 456 789.
The South African government encourages that if you suspect a mental illness, visit your nearest clinic or doctor.
Remember, mental illness can be treated and prevented!
