Would you allow your partner to go away on a work retreat without you?

Bongani opens up about how weekends away with your work colleagues can get out of hand and how that may affect your partner at home.
I got an email from an anonymous listener for my 'WTF' feature where she explained that her boyfriend won’t allow her to go away on a work retreat because 'he knows what happens' at these types of things.
I am going to start this off by saying categorically that I feel uncomfortable when my wife has to go away with her work colleagues. I trust her and respect her, but being a man I know what happens at these things. It isn't her that I am worried about, it is the other men at these work retreats that make me feel uneasy.

I got a few calls and voice notes from a few female listeners saying that a relationship is all about trust and love, which I can’t ignore, so perhaps maybe I should change my views? I even took a call from a lady who said that she goes away all the time and her husband sits at home and sulks - but she insisted that nothing ever happens.
She’s the type of lady who takes a work retreat seriously, which is nice and all, but then the worms started crawling out the can. I got male listeners calling in who seemed to agree with my sentiment that men are pigs and can’t be trusted. That had me worried again!
