A Durban girl quickly turned a graduation ceremony into a runway, and her audience loved it!
If you've graduated from University before, you would know that the feeling when you walk up on stage is indescribable. To think of the many hours of hard work, and studying you put in to get to that moment. It's quite something.
According to IOL, 22-year-old Chrysontha Alicia Palan recently graduated with a BA degree in Communication Media and Arts from UKZN Westville on Monday.
A graduation ceremony is traditionally a very formal ceremony with graduates up on stage, presented with their certificates. However, Chrysontha turned this formal affair turned into a catwalk, and used the opportunity to 'work it'!
In a video uploaded to her Facebook page, Chrysontha is seen strutting her stuff during her big moment, giving the honourable Chancellor Chief Justice Mogeong Mogeong something to smile, and giggle about.
The video captioned "Babes, I am hotter by two degrees. (Btw. I sewed this dress myself)" has already got over 50,000 views, and 1,300 likes at the time of writing.
Chrysontha shared in an interview with IOL that she has always dreamed of walking on the graduation stage.
I normally sew my own clothing because I’m original. That navy colour is elegant, I’d say. To me, it just said graduation day. I didn’t look for the design anywhere as creativity is my middle name- Chrysontha Palan
We have attempted to make contact with her, but she was unavailable for comment.
What do you make of this? Do you think that she was over the top by doing this, or did she have every right to celebrate her graduation this way?
