A KZN listener has sent through a message explaining why she thinks people should pass a series of tests before being allowed to have children.

Dear Damon
My unpopular opinion is that it should be illegal for people to have children without taking an exam to prove that they're ready to be a parent.
We are living in a world where parents abandon their children cause parenting is so hard and even adults are raising kids when they themselves don't have enough information or knowledge about what is going on in the world.
I think people should take a test to prove they are worthy of having a child and must be evaluated to prove that they're ready for that responsibility.
Parenting is a privilege and like everything else, it must be earned.
Even single people who want to have kids can get their parenting license and you must be evaluated every time you want to have a new baby because we all have different thresholds.
You might be a good parent to one or two kids but be a disaster at parenting three or four.
There is nothing worse than seeing a mother or father who can't discipline their child or even change their nappy. It just makes you wonder how this person had a child in the first place.
This test would also root out those people that want to have kids for the wrong reasons like saving a marriage or to increase their social status.
