Listen as Bongani Urban calls for help
Updated | By Bongani Urban
Listen as East Coast Urban follow up on their story of the
abused listener, but this time they call for help. Does it come?
You might remember on Tuesday we ran our WTF feature about a listener who didn’t know how to leave her abusive husband. I opened up the lines to see if there was any advice you could give her. I was shocked by the response at just how common abuse is.
Listen to the first night we ran this topic below. We received a very emotional and inspiring call from a lady called Debbie, who poured her heart on air. Make sure to listen to the second part too.
On East Coast Urban, we try and run a new fresh WTF each night we’re on air, but this story needed way more airtime than just one night. So my producer and I reached out to you once again and asked you to share your personal stories so that we can inspire confidence in victims of abuse. But this time our last caller was a professional from Lifeline Durban. Listen until the end as Pravisha, Director of Lifeline Durban, gives everyone some sound advice.
If you or anyone you know is in a similar situation, whether it is emotional or physical abuse, please seek help immediately. You can overcome this, there are so many people out there who can help.
Call the crisis line at Lifeline Durban on 031 312 2323. A big thank you to our listeners and Pravisha for bonding together and showing support for our anonymous caller.
