If you’re a Grammar Nazi, we have bad news for you
A new survey reveals that people who correct people’s
grammar are also jerks.
In the age of social media, everybody wants to be right all the time.
This is true because often, with screenshots, if you do or say something controversial, it could come back to haunt you.
Sometimes, however, it’s not what you say but how you say it. Things like starting a sentence with a conjunction or saying ‘there’ instead of “they’re” can cause grammar Nazis to come out and do a quick proofread and publicly shame you for your crimes.
I have a feeling this is why Facebook introduced the edit button a few years ago. According to a survey from the University of Michigan people who hate grammatical errors are also less likely to have appealing personalities.
The study also revealed that typos are less likely to bother people who are less open-minded and conscientious.
