Hear the woman behind the voice and story of #DearDiary
Updated | By Thandolwethu
For almost two months and 25 episodes, listeners of KZN have been sharing their views of the journey of a young wife from Durban, who goes under the alias #DearDiary. Now it is time to meet her.
#DearDiary has caused much controversy, with some listeners demanding to know why this young woman continuously makes questionable decisions.
From the very start of this one-of-a-kind radio drama, I asked my producer to not let me hear one single episode until we aired it every night on East Coast Urban. I wanted to hear each episode as the listeners of KZN would, no spoilers allowed.
LISTEN to episode 1: #DearDiary: The day after the wedding
As you may have heard from my reactions on air, I was always left with so many questions and so many "What in the world are you doing?!" moments. This young lady's story has completely captured me.
#DearDiary will be going on a break, just in time for the festive season. The last episode for 2017 left us on a cliff hanger with regards to whether or not she would be going ahead with the abortion.
LISTEN: #DearDiary: What if I never have children again?
I had to give the woman behind the story a call to see if she could 'spill the tea' for us. Added to this, I dropped a bomb on #DearDiary that the man with whom she has been having an affair and who could potentially be the father of her child had reached out to me.
Listen below as #DearDiary in her own words answers the question: 'Did you have an abortion?' There is also a surprise guest appearance you don't want to miss...
#DearDiary will continue in 2018, in the meantime you can catch up on all 25 episodes of 2017 below:
Remember you can also listen and download #DearDiary on iTunes, simply search for #DearDiary under podcasts.
