Leaked, explicit images without consent are circulating on social media more frequently than ever before.
According to Ballotpedia, the term 'revenge porn' refers to the distribution of sexual or pornographic images of individuals without their consent. This may include images taken without consent or taken with consent but later distributed without the knowledge of those featured in the images.
Just this month alone American model, entrepreneur, and mother to Robert Kardashian's child, Blac Chyna had an intimate exchange involving herself and an ex-boyfriend leaked on social media.
This is not the first time that Chyna has been a victim of what is known as 'revenge porn' in America. In the reality show: Rob & Chyna on E! News, the couple gives viewers a glimpse of their fiery relationship and journey into becoming parents of their daughter Dream.

Pulane Lekoe, a law student, and ex-girlfriend of soccer player Katlego Mphela was in the spotlight and sent social media into a frenzy. This came after images of her in the nude were leaked online without her knowledge.
Lenkoe spoke to Times Live at the time stating: "I do not want all of this attention. Good Friday is approaching and I am going to Church. I do not want people to be looking", she said in the interview.
The debate over the legality of posting explicit photos or videos of others online without their permission is an ongoing one in South Africa. There have been reported cases of young women committing suicide after their intimate images were circulated on social media.
Social media platforms all have forums in which users may log complaints in reference to content that they deem inappropriate. However, by the time action is taken against these complaints, the content would have been viewed and shared to millions online.
