East Coast Drive is on a mission to recognise our frontline heroes in KZN, those people who are considered an essential service and are not able to safely tuck themselves away at home like the rest of us but on the contrary, have to risk infection of themselves and their family members in order to keep the country afloat.

East Coast Drive was able to have a chat with Irene about her living situation at home with her husband and family, during this lockdown and quarantine period, especially working as an essential service employee.
"We have not had any personal human touch since the lockdown was announced. We sleep in separate rooms, in order to protect ourselves and also those we come in contact with on a daily basis. We wash our dishes and daily worn clothes and uniforms separately. We don’t use each other's eating utensils." Irene said
She even went as far as to say "We can't see our family that lives less than 1km away from us. My mom in-law is sickly and we can't go see her as we cannot put her at risk of anything."
Listen to the podcast to hear what more Irene had to say.
Irene from the whole of South Africa, we thank you for the work you and your husband are doing to keep the country running and safe, you are truly Frontline Heroes.
