2019's petrol saving tip: Use a brick

Our Executive Producer, Rory Petzer, was able to put together a list of creative ways you could use to save cash money on petrol... by using a brick.

The fuel price in 2019 has been escalating - every week seems to be a different price (we know it doesn't work like that, but it sure feels like it).

South Africans have been crying out for help, but nobody was listening. Our producer, however, had a few tricks up his sleeve and he decided to share them with us.

Use these at your own risk, though:

1. Place a brick under your accelerator pedal. This will prevent you from pushing it down too far, forcing you to drive slower, which in turn will use less petrol (actually, please don't ever do that).

2. Place a brick on your seat forcing yourself to sit on it. Studies have shown that drivers who are uncomfortable spend less time driving.

3. Place a brick in front of one of your tyres. The thought of having to move a brick every time you need to drive somewhere might inspire you to walk instead.

4. Attach a brick to your car keys. Numerous surveys conducted all over the world have shown that people who struggle to put their car keys in their pockets are less likely to use them.

5. Place a brick in your petrol tank. You will need to ask a mechanic to help you do this, but it will be worth the effort. It is relatively cheap to have done, and will save you money every time you fill up - as there is less space for the petrol!
