WATCH: Prof. Abdool Karim says SA ready to drop mask mandate

Saturday 5 March 2022 marked two years since the start of COVID-19 lockdowns in SA.
Is South Africa is ready to drop some of the restrictions that have been in place since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic?
Former head of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on COVID-19, Professor Salim Abdool Karim, certainly thinks so.
According to an address on eNCA, Karim says that sanitizing and the wearing of masks could now become a thing of the past.

I don't know what government's plans are with removing masks but what we've seen from other countries is that we have reached a stage where we can change our overall strategy, we can remove most of our restrictions and public health measures at this point,- Professor Salim Abdool Karim
