WATCH: Ghana international Christian Atsu’s body arrived in Accra this week

It's been a sad time not only for Ghana but also for the football nation too.
The body of Ghanaian soccer star Christian Atsu arrived in Accra, Ghana on Thursday.
Atsu, who passed away at the age of 29, was a beloved figure in the Ghanaian football community and his death has shocked the nation.

The body of Atsu was flown in from the United Kingdom, where he had been receiving treatment for a long-term illness.
Atsu had been a member of the Ghanaian national team and played for clubs in England, Portugal, and Spain.
According to IOL, he was widely regarded as one of the best and brightest players in the country and his death has been met with an outpouring of grief from all corners of the nation.
Upon the arrival of Atsu's body in Accra, a ceremony was held at the airport to the late star and his family.

Atsu's family, friends, and members of the Ghanaian football community gathered to bid a final farewell to the beloved footballer.
The ceremony featured an guard, a tribute to Atsu's career, and a moment of silence in his memory. Numerous figures from the Ghanaian football community attended the ceremony to pay their respects.

Ghana's Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, was present, and he praised Atsu's contributions to the sport.
"This is a very sad day for Ghanaian football," says Asiamah.
