Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
We caught up with the bravest 12-year-old in KZN - a rising star in Combat Shooting with very big plans!
LISTEN: We chat to the rising Combat Shooting Champion on what's next in her sporting career:
Dakota Davies (aged 12) is a Grade 7 pupil at Brighton Beach Senior Primary School and a rising champion at Combat Shooting. She showed interest in the sport in late 2016 as a member of Impala Shooting Club.
Combat shooting is an interactive sport, with competitors moving into various positions to fire at targets of various sizes and distances, in a strictly controlled environment to ensure safety.
Under the guidance of her trainers Rob and Tristan Hopper, she soon developed an interest in Competitive shooting.
This year, she started shooting competitively in the KZN Production League, shooting a CZ Shadow SP01 9mm Handgun. She is currently the youngest person shooting competitively in the league.
So far this year she has consistently moved up the rankings to her current position as Top Female and Top Junior in the KZN League and is ranked 12th overall in KZN.
Watch her in action in Amanzimtoti:
Dakota will be Competing in the KZN Closed Championships in Early October and the South African Nationals competition to be held in Stillfontein in late October 2017.
Dakota's goal is to be the youngest person ever (male or female) to receive her Kwazulu Natal Pistol Shooting Association (KNZPSA) Colours, with her long term goal being to represent South Africa at the next World Shoot to be held in 2020!
We wish Dakota all the best in all her sporting endeavours!
