What will this mean for those who won't be able to catch the Springboks during the World Cup?
South Africans are in trouble after a major setback was revealed by the South African Broadcasting Company (SABC).
Everyone knows that we as South Africans love supporting our national teams.
You saw this earlier in the year with the women's cricket team participating in the ICC World Cup, SA hosting the Netball World Cup on home soil, and Banyana Banyana at the World Cup.

However, many South Africans will not be able to support their beloved Springboks during the World Cup after the SABC refused to pay the R38-million SuperSport requires, as they hold the broadcasting licence.
Not just the Springbok game but all the games of the Rugby World Cup will not be played on SABC and will only be available to DStv subscribers who own the full DStv package.
All of these games will be televised on the SuperSport Grandstand and Rugby channels on the broadcaster’s most expensive DStv Premium package.

According to Sunday Times, there has been a failed agreement between Multichoice and SABC as the matter of costs was the burning issue between the two companies.
This will of course impact many South Africans as SABC is the heartbeat in a lot of homes.
The SABC are set to have an urgent board meeting on 5 September 2023 to discuss the issue.
This story is a developing one and will definitely impact many South Africans.
