Pick n Pay, one of South Africa’s leading retail stores, recently announced that it will be scrapping the use of plastic bags at its till points.

This move is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainability.

The plastic bags are often discarded after one use.

This results in a significant amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfill sites or in the ocean.

By replacing these bags with paper bags, Pick n Pay is reducing its environmental impact and helping to protect the planet.

According to News24, the initiative would help prevent 20-million single-use plastic bags, which are difficult to recycle, from ending up in the environment.

The company has also rolled out a number of other initiatives to reduce plastic waste.

For example, Pick n Pay has introduced a range of reusable bags made from recycled plastic.

Customers can purchase these bags and use them multiple times, thus eliminating the need for single-use plastic bags.

In addition, the company is encouraging customers to bring their own reusable containers when shopping for bulk items.

This reduces the amount of packaging used and helps to reduce plastic waste.

Of course, by taking these steps, Pick n Pay is leading the way in terms of sustainability and reducing plastic waste.

It is hoped that other retailers will follow suit and take similar steps to reduce their plastic usage.
