Pictures: Statue of Madiba looks nothing like him
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
In commemoration of #Mandela100, President Cyril Ramaphosa gifted a statue of our late legend, Nelson Mandela, to the United Nations. However, people seem to think it looks nothing like him at all.
A life-size statue of Nelson Mandela was unveiled at the United Nations recently to celebrate what would have been his 100th birthday.
The statue is worth an estimated $1.8-million (roughly R25-million) and was a gift to the UN from South Africa. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, along with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, revealed the statue at the UN headquarters, but people immediately began to complain it looked nothing like Mandela.
Take a look at the statue:

Shortly after the statue was revealed, many noticed that the freedom fighter didn't look quite like himself.

Of course, our very own Trevor Noah had to throw the first blow dissing the statue on his American talk show, The Daily Show.
