Moses Mabhida Stadium looking to buy a new SkyCar
The original cable car has not been operational for a long time.
Durban is known for it's many tourist attractions.
So when the SkyCar at Moses Mabhida Stadium stopped working, it caused a lot of problems, as it is regarded as a big attraction for city.

According to IOL, the SkyCar at Moses Mabhida Stadium broke down and the costs involved to fix it do not make economical sense.
This was announced during a briefing of the executive members of the city.
The SkyCar was seen as a major tourist attraction when the stadium was built.
The car itself is a lift which is glass-encased that can travel up the iconic arch over the stadium, to a viewing platform at the very top.

According to the stadium officials, the lift has not been functional since it broke down back in 2018.
eThekwini Municipality officials tabled a report before the executive committee about the other work that needed to be done in and around the stadium.
These total over R30-million.

Included in the work is the network infrastructure upgrade.
This will cost at the very least R7-million, R20-million for infrastructure work, and R3-million for other maintenance work.
