According to BBC News, these scientists are making good progress and could soon start field trials.

The mass birth control plan involves luring grey squirrels into feeding boxes, which will house hazelnut spread spiked with contraceptives.

According to Environment Minister Lord Benyon, this project could help eradicate the grey squirrel in the United Kingdom without having to kill them.

The minister goes on further to say these squirrels do damage to the woodland ecosystem and the native red squirrel populations.
