Speaking at the event, Dr Thobile Sifunda, who is the Deputy MEC, revealed the need for ladies football to be focused on following the recent success of Banyana Banyana.

Our very own Sky Tshabalala was the Master of Ceremonies (MC) at the launch of the partnership between the KZN Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture and Spanish football league, La Liga.
The launch came on the eve of the World Football Summit Africa, the first of its kind in Africa.

This partnership with La Liga South Africa is to foster the development of football in KwaZulu-Natal.
The partnership seeks to bring a number of developmental and empowerment initiatives into the province.
With this initiative, it affords the KZN football fraternity the chance to learn from one of the world’s leading football leagues.
MEC Amanda Bani-Mapena expressed excitement at this partnership, with the PSL teams from KZN plying their trade in the DSTV Premiership also set to benefit.

The MEC spoke about the need to sustain the momentum and make KZN the true home of South African football.
“We are very excited with this and we look forward to maintaining this momentum beyond the World Football Summit. The amount of expertise, harnessing of talent and exposure to young footballers will glean from this partnership will ensure a long lasting legacy,” says Bani-Mapena.
