Keri's wellness Wednesday: How to get that gym smell out of your clothes

This week sees hoards of East Coasters climbing up almost 1000 stairs in our Heart Stuff CARE TO CLIMB campaign with East Coast Breakfast and Hilton Hotel.
Being active and exercising weekly, or daily, is GREAT... BUT, unless you have a Kardashian budget, you are probably working out in the same clothes over and over and over again. And if THIS is true for you, there is also a great chance that even after a wash, your gym clothes still smell like stale sweat.

Not anymore!!!
I was very skeptical the first time I was told about the vinegar and bicarb method. But I tried it, and I can't deny IT DEFINITELY WORKS.
What you will need:
A bucket or basin
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup bicarbonate of soda

What to do?
- put cold water into a bucket/basin and add a cup of white vinegar (White vinegar is a miracle ingredient when it comes to getting rid of bad smells.) Soak your clothes in the vinegar/water for about 30mins.
(while your clothes are soaking in white wine vinegar, why not enjoy a glass of wine yourself?)
- After 30mins, remove your workout clothes and pop them into the washing machine. If hand washing, empty the bucket and put fresh water.
- Now wash your clothes as normal, but add a cup of bicarbonate of soda.
(Bicarbonate of soda is a natural deodorizer and cleanser)
Adding it to your washing is a great way to gently clean your clothes, to remove tough smells and stains.
It can also help soften clothes, boost your detergent's power, and keep whites white. As a bonus, it helps your washing machine stay clean, too. I actually sometimes substitute my washing powder COMPLETELY for bicarb.
Note: hot water is known to help to remove the smell, so if you are comfortable doing a hot wash, do it. I always do a COLD wash and it works really well.
