*Flips Phone* - “Hello” Director explains why Adele uses Flip Phone
Updated | By ECR Breakfast
The big release of Adele’s new video for her latest single broke the Internet & fans could wait to scrutinize and criticize the cinematography. The question of the Flip Phone she uses caused quite the stir on social media. The director explains.
Xavier Dolan, the director, has a simple explanation for the use of the flip phone in “Hello’s” video treatment. He told LA Times that the use of modern technology takes away from the authenticity of the story and the time in which the story is told. He goes on to explain that modern technology reminds one of reality.
The appearance of the phone booth in the video has a better interpretation of the directors’ nostalgic story telling, an element of the past with which connects us to the memory that Adele tells of when she reaches out to her ex.
The video was shot on a farm in Quebec & stars ‘The Wire’ actor Tristan Wilds as Adele’s ex who is seen in flashbacks through her point of view.
