Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has declared an immediate three-week lockdown in two high-risk districts as the country battles a rise in Ebola infections. Ebola is a rare but deadly disease. It spreads through direct contact with body fluids and is not transmitted through airborne viral particles. It has no cure, and there is no approved vaccine, although there is a concerted effort to create one.

After members of BTS announced a break in June from group musical activities to pursue solo projects, they will now have to serve in the military. Military service is mandatory in South Korea, where almost all able-bodied men are required to serve in the army for 18 months by the time they are 28 years old. South Korea’s parliament passed a bill in 2020 allowing pop stars – namely those who “excel in popular culture and art” – to defer their service until the age of 30.

It is all systems go for the historic government ceremony to officially hand over the certificate of recognition (coronation) to Zulu King, Misuzulu Sinqobile KaZwelithini, on October 29. After inspecting the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Dlamini Zuma told the media that all was on track for the King’s big day.

Robyn Moscrop's three-year-old Bronson died. In honour of her dog, Moscrop decided to get a tattoo of Bronson... using his ashes! According to Up Worthy, you can have them pressed into vinyl records, turned into glass art or even use them as part of a memorial fireworks display.

The Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) has crowned loadshedding as the South African Word of the Year. Terms that were also in the running were Inganekwane, Gaslighting, Xenophobia, and Phala Phala.
