With the week already at the halfway stage, here are five things you need to know before you get out of bed:

You may have heard of train surfing, “the act of riding on the outside of a moving train, tram or another rail transport”, but a group of men, believed to be from Mayville, created a stir on social media when they decided to climb onto a bus's roof and “bus surf”. The video clip shows men standing on the roof of a bus that was driving up an on-ramp onto the N3 freeway. Metro police slammed the men’s behaviour.

Competitive eater Joey Chestnut won his record-extending 15th Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest, devouring an astounding 63 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes on Monday. He has featured in Darren Maule's Quick Quiz before.

The terrible conditions of the now infamous Enyobeni Tavern at Scenery Park, East London, continue to disgust authorities, with the latest disgust expressed by MPs who said the place looks like a “pig’s den”. The tavern is where 21 children died recently.
