With the category 4 tropical cyclone Batsirai expected to make landfall in southern Mozambique early next week, the KZN Sharks Board began removing all shark safety gear from protected beaches.
This is to prevent unnecessary losses and damage to equipment as a result of strong winds and heavy seas.

The French Senate voted 160 to 143 to ban the wearing of the hijab and other "ostensible religious symbols" in sports competitions following a proposed amendment from Les Républicains, a right wing party who argued that headscarves can risk the safety of athletes wearing them.

The owner of a women's clothing store in Brazil decided to take matters into her own hands and ban them from her shop.
Costa, who has more than 250,000 followers on Instagram, has tried to draw attention to the problem of in-store sexual harassment by posting pictures to the social network of men behaving badly.

The eThekwini Municipality has apologised to residents following a break-down in its pre-payment vending service. The City says the breakdown is due to multiple fibre breaks in the uMhlanga and New Germany areas.

While the Department of Transport is making headway in its battle against the current backlog of driver's licence cards, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has announced that the department plans to introduce a new driver's licence card in South Africa from October 2023.
The department is at least considering extending the validity period of the new licence cards from five to 10 years.
