Following widespread devastation in KZN, the Department of Correctional Services said its 19 textile workshops, 10 steel workshops, 10 wood workshops, eight bakeries, 1 shoe factory, 1 locksmith workshop, 21 farms, and 98 small sites (vegetable plots) would be providing much-needed assistance to communities in the form of donations.

The latest data released by the Central Energy Fund on April 22 shows an over-recovery for the petrol price, but a fairly steep under-recovery for diesel. If current price trends persist until the end of the month, the price of petrol could come down by around 20 cents a litre, while diesel would increase by 80 cents or more.

There have been calls for armed security escorts for tankers that deliver water to areas with damaged infrastructure after the recent floods around KZN. Over the weekend, at least two crime scenes played out in the province.
At Isipingo, CPF chair Adian David shared:
"They came with firearms and pointed it at the people and stopped them from filling their buckets with water. They decanted water from the tanker into their tank. Then they instructed the driver to proceed to the area where they live."
