According to Business Tech, the Meta-Owned company mentioned that the change would allow users to correct simple spelling errors or add extra content to a message.
The messaging service is rolling out the feature that will allow users to edit their messages in group chats, as well as individual chats.
The feature will be available for both text and multimedia messages, including photos, videos, audio, and GIFs.
WhatsApp’s new message editing feature allows users to fix typos or provide more clarification on messages as soon as they notice errors or need to change the content.
To make a correction, users will tap and hold the message they’d like to edit, select ‘Edit’ from the menu, and make changes.

They can edit messages even after they have been read by the receiver.
Additionally, users will be able to see when a message has been edited, as the edited message will appear with a note saying so beneath it.
However, this feature will not allow users to delete messages, and the original message will be archived.
The added convenience and clarity of the message editing feature will make WhatsApp chats much smoother and provide users with peace of mind that they can quickly fix typos and clarify details as soon as they’re noticed.
