DStv hand subscribers an option to work around loadshedding

A DStv channel for those hit by loadshedding? Let's investigate...
Now that South Africa has been hit with permanent loadshedding, the pressure is on broadcasters to act.
If they don't, they know that they will start to lose subscribers.

According to Business Tech, Multichoice will launch a new pop-up channel on DStv called SWITCH’D ON, while Openview has launched Power-UP!
These moves are in direct response to loadshedding in South Africa.
"This intervention will give viewers up to five times to watch their favourite primetime shows when the lights come back on," reads a Multichoice statement.

The new channel SWITCH’D ON will operate on channels 109 and 110. It launched this week on Tuesday, 24 January 2023.
The new DStv channel will air selected prime-time content from Mzansi Magic, Mzansi Wethu, and Kyknet & Kie.
In addition to this, Multichoice has added DStv Premium and DStv Compact Plus subscribers will be able to continue to view their favourite content through Catch-up and on the DStv app.
