After the tragic news of Khensani Maseko's suicide, Darren Maule decided to tackle the topic of depression head on and shared his own experience.

Demi Lovato was recently hospitalised after relapsing. Demi, who has always been very open about her substance abuse, finally broke her silence in the form of a post on Instagram.
Demi also suffers from mental illness, namely depression, which pushed her to have thoughts of committing suicide.
Lovato isn't the only one who has fell victim to depression. In recent tragic news that shook South Africa, Khensani Maseko took her own life due to depression, which stemmed from being raped.

Moving even closer to home, our very own Darren Maule admits to also experiencing depression in his younger years.

- Relying on alcohol and sedatives

- Overwhelmed
- Guilty
- Irritable
- Frustrated
- Lacking in confidence
- Unhappy
- Indecisive
- Disappointed
- Miserable
- Sad
Thoughts:
- 'I’m a failure.'
- 'It’s my fault.'
- 'Nothing good ever happens to me.'
- 'I’m worthless.'
- 'Life’s not worth living.'
- 'People would be better off without me
Physical:
- Tired all the time
- Sick and run down
- Headaches and muscle pains
- Churning gut
- Sleep problems
- loss or change of appetite
- Significant weight loss or gain
According to Beyond Blue, Depression and Anxiety, we all experience some of these symptoms from time to time, and it may not necessarily mean you're depressed. Equally, not everyone who is experiencing depression will have all of these symptoms.
