Darren Maule debuts Evaride thanks to this Twitter challenge
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast
On Monday, Darren Maule challenged a Twitter user to get 1,000 retweets on a tweet and we would play a brand new song by her favourite band Evaride on today’s show. See what happened...
LISTEN: Josh Devine from the band Evaride sends East Coast Breakfast a surprise message:
The power of social media amazes us every day. It's full of endless opportunities, and here's proof.
The band Evaride is made up of three gentlemen; Sean Murray, Hayden Maringer, and Josh Devine.
Some of you might know Josh - especially if you are a Directioner, as he was the drummer for One Direction and now Evaride.
Josh also has lots of family right here in KZN!
A fan of the band, @VixyAnn, asked Darren Maule to play Evaride's song on the show and this is what happened:
@darrenmaule you need to get this on your playlist!!!! It's amazing!!!!!!! #Evaride #HEARTLESS🖤 #ECRBreakfast https://t.co/dmszcGQUFH

Our producer caught the tweet:
get 1000 RTs and we will make a plan!
— Jason Lee McCall (@JasonMcCall01) August 14, 2017
And the band replied:
We've got this! Only 150 to go!!!
— EVARIDE (@evaride) August 14, 2017
Wow! Great work team! Thank you so much @VixyAnn
— EVARIDE (@evaride) August 14, 2017
And so, Darren Maule kept his promise and played the song:
Guess what we're debuting on @ECRBreakfast @ecr9495 this morning... @evaride @JoshDevineDrums #Heartless
— Darren Maule™ (@darrenmaule) August 15, 2017
We also found out on Tuesday morning that the name Evaride is the name of a child Josh sponsors in Rwanda. He went to Rwanda to meet Evaride and through the donations made by the charity 'Food for the Hungry', the entire village is no longer going hungry.
The single's profits will go towards the charity too! So go and download the song!
Debut single HEARTLESS by my band @evaride, OUT NOW :) https://t.co/Ui7235Jv1F

What are your thoughts on the song?
