Breakfast team celebrates World Parkinson’s Week with Rakesh Harribhai

Founder and director of Parkinson’s ZA chats to the breakfast team about World Parkinson’s Week.
Parkinson’s Disease is the world’s fastest growing neurological disease with the current incidence of some 10 million people affected, expected to double by 2031.
In steps in Rakesh Harribhai who is the director of Parkinson’s ZA, a NPO and public benefit organization, aimed at improving the overall quality of life for People impacted by Parkinson’s Disease.

At Parkinson’s ZA, the focus is on multidisciplinary support in the form of exercise, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and lifestyle management.
The organisation will be hosting workshops which incorporate this support, free of charge in Central Durban on a weekly basis.
This week will be the 30th workshop since their establishment.

On 15 April, to celebrate World Parkinson’s Week, the organisation have planned a walk from Durban’s Snake Park Beach to expand awareness on Parkinson’s Disease.
They would want to make awareness of this event in order to reach many people who might be having this disease or know someone who has Parkinson's disease.
