Bird's-eye view of Sub-Saharan Africa's longest promenade in Durban
South Africa keeps on shining like the bright stars we are. On Saturday, eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda led the official opening of the promenade.
The R380-million promenade upgrade is set to be the platform for Durban's hub of tourist attractions. Thousands of people flocked to join in on the festivities.
It’s now the longest uninterrupted waterfront promenade in Africa – making the city’s most important tourism asset even more attractive. Drone footage of the event shows the impeccable design and artwork, as well as the true beauty of Durban - breathtaking ocean views, surrounded by amazing people.

The promenade extension spans 750 meters long and 30 meters wide, making it altogether the longest in Sub-Saharan Africa and provides linkages to all beaches on the city’s eastern boundary, tourist centres, and the uMgeni River estuary cycle route and jogging track.
eThekwini’s multi-pronged holiday plan includes various activities, events, and activations through the city. It will officially kick into gear from 1 December 2019 and continue until 14 January 2020.
