1. Massive drop in US election misinformation after President Trump's social media suspension
Just a week after President Donald Trump was booted from Twitter and other social media sites, online misinformation about the US election fell by as much as 73%. According to findings by Zignal Labs, conversations about election fraud fell from 2.5-million mentions to 688,000 across several social media sites. The data indicates that tech platforms' ability to restrict the spread of falsehoods is an effective approach to containing misinformation online.
2. Stage two loadshedding set to continue on Monday
Eskom said load shedding will return to Stage 2 today. Apparently, despite stringent measures to manage the impact of the second wave of the pandemic on the operations, they were experiencing some impact on operations, including suppliers creating delays in fixing problems.

3. Man offers $70-million for permission to dig up bitcoin fortune he accidentally threw out
A British guy named James Howells accidentally threw a hard drive loaded with 7,500 bitcoins into the trash in 2013 and has now offered the local authority where he lives more than $70-million if it allows him to excavate a landfill site. Unfortunately, according to the council, the environmental impact would be too big to attempt.

4. Durban's much-loved locomotive needs refurbishing
The much-loved steam locomotive, known as the Stokers Train, at the old Kloof Station, desperately needs to be refurbished. Members of the Umgeni Steam Railway (USR) have launched a Facebook appeal for skills and materials to restore the majestic old train to her former glory. 5. Mouse in hotel room adds to Yulia Putintseva's Australian Open quarantine woes
If going into strict quarantine ahead of next month’s Australian Open was not difficult enough, Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva has to contend with an unwanted roommate in the form of a mouse. The video was posted on Twitter, but none of the hotel staff are interested in helping her clear the room of the mouse, for fear of COVID-19 infection.
