1. Interest rates to remain the same
Reserve Bank Governer Letsetja Kganyago announced that interest rates will be kept on hold at 3.5%. That's brilliant news and it means that South Africans are being looked after. Although a low interest rate is not conducive for international investments, it means that ordinary South Africans paying off a bond or a car can loosen their belts a bit.

2. Harsh weather conditions still expected in KZN
Inclement weather conditions are expected to continue in KwaZulu-Natal as hail the size of tennis balls fell in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday afternoon, while parts of Durban central and surrounding areas were shocked by the intensity of an early morning thunderstorm. The storm led to localised flooding, road closures, and confused residents.

3. KZN MEC warns truck driver involved in deadly crash
Transport MEC Bheki Ntuli has issued a warning to the truck driver who fled the accident scene on the R33 near Wartburg in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands in September. Ntuli has warned that he or she must hand themselves in before his department comes for them. The accident resulted in thirteen people being killed when four vehicles crashed.

4. uMhlanga Oyster Box Hotel wins travel award
uMhlanga’s Oyster Box hotel was named South Africa’s leading hotel at this year’s World Travel Awards. The City of Durban also raked in major awards after being announced as Africa’s leading City destination and Africa’s leading meetings and conference destination. The Mayor of eThekwini Municipality, Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda, said the awards show that Durban’s tourism products and services are of a world standard.
5. Canada to donate reserved COVID-19 vaccine shots
Canada is looking to donate its reserved COVID-19 vaccine to poorer countries. The North American country reserved billions of the shots before the late-stage trials in a bid to make sure it would have access to the vaccine. According to reports, the additional shots Canada will acquire will be donated through the World Health Organisation-backed COVAX facility which will then distribute them to countries in need.
