WhatsApp, why did you block me?
Updated | By East Coast Radio/ Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
We asked KZN if they have ever blocked someone or been blocked from a WhatsApp group and they came through with their dramatic stories.
Did you hear about the story of Ugandan man, Herbert Baitwababo, who took a WhatsApp group admin to court after he was blocked from the group?
Well, we covered this story on our website last week. And besides finding it completely bizarre, we also thought it was quite a talking point.

One that could open up tales about the conflict and abrasive nature that comes with WhatsApp groups.
This is why we decided to ask our East Coast Radio Facebook family whether they had ever been blocked or blocked someone from a WhatsApp group.
The man, Herbert Baitwababo, "won a lawsuit against a WhatsApp group administrator who removed him from the ‘Buyanja My Roots’ group in May 2023 after he raised financial management questions." (Nairobi News)
And as much as we had loads of interactions with people who have been blocked, we doubt they would take it as far as he did.
Of course, it pays to mention that in his case, there were financial interests in question.
Check out some of their responses:
Cheryl Keble: "Yes my sister use to do this to me and I never knew why. I would not bother asking because it was over things I never knew about. I felt like I was a drain. so I got fedup and decided to block her from me for good it's 3 years now an I'm still very happy I dnt need to hear drama."
Mandisa Jikazi: "Yes i was once blocked for being a silent member"
Varsha Daya: "Yes.... Simply for speaking the truth.... But i does not bother me... I speak my mind.... Im not sugar-coated"
Saroj Govender: "Yes I have, when people talk nonsense block them"
