#WCW: Shoprite's first female truck driver is now training a fleet of other female drivers

To be called the first in something is indeed an honour. So when we stumbled across this amazing story of a woman who steered the course from her dream job to something that proved to be fruitful, we had to take some time to share it with you.
Today, for our woman crush, we are celebrating women in the trucking industry who have paved a way for young females.
She had dreams to become a teacher, but sometimes life pushes you to make choices that aren't always your first choice.
Nomusa Caroline Hlongwane, the Shoprite Group’s first female driver, is now paving the way for other female truck drivers.
When you hear someone say that their ambition in life is to inspire other women, you know you going to get to meet a thought leader. A woman whose mission is to lead and help others lead...
Check out her story below. Her husband helped her to see that she could still pursue her teaching, just from a different point of view.

"Her experience and passion led her to become a driver trainer, where Hlongwane has combined her love of teaching with her truck driving expertise to train more than 400 drivers to date. Among the new generation of female truck drivers that Hlongwane has trained is Hunadi Rasesemola, who turned to driving when she realised her high school subjects wouldn’t allow her to become a paramedic." Her father was also a truck driver and taught her how to drive. Her passion for the profession came from her father and in 2019, she joined the Shoprite Group. She is now an acclaimed driver and has earned a good name for herself on the team.
We love that both these women display such strong values and that they both had strong male role models in their lives. Too often we don't acknowledge the male role models who help women achieve their goals in life. In this case, it really was a mergence of the genders and a true reflection of a unified society.
