#WCW: Say hello to Barbara van der Westhuizen, the go-getter...

"Women of South Africa, you inspire me..."
As we progress towards the end of Women's Month, we take the time to celebrate another inspirational woman. Barbara van der Westhuizen is just another example of a go-getter.
She is a mother, a general practitioner, who recently began studying full-time again, specialising in Dermatology.
But wait, there's more. She also is the co-founder of a side hustle that makes life planners for women who still want to harness their creative side.
It takes a lot of courage and motivation to pursue all that you love as a woman. With the innumerable amount of hats that we wear, it can be daunting to take on more.
But Barbara is just a clear example of when you want something, and you have a passion and hunger for it, you can make it happen.
She shared that she truly loves what she does, being an advocate for her patients' good health and encouraging them to be advocates for their own health inspires her.
However, she did admit that it doesn't come without its kinks.
Many a time, women who do juggle many things have support. Barbara believes that it really takes a village to raise a family.
And so she is grateful to have the support and help from her parents and her husband, who is also a doctor.
Her words of advice really ring true of another powerhouse we know. Carol Ofori always says that asking for help should be a welcomed thing.
Barbara believes this too. Whilst completing her internship she learnt that "being overly stretched is an unhealthy place to be." It was at this time in her life that she learnt to ask for help.
