#WCW: Mom reaches out to Carol Ofori to play her daughter's songs on her heavenly birthday
Updated | By East Coast Radio
"In her short time of living she has experienced too much
trauma... Aranya passed on just
after her 5th birthday. She 100% loved
listening to ECR daily."
Feeling like you might have missed it on-air?
Listen here to Marlini Naidoo speaking with Carol Ofori in the 1st ever Woman Crush Wednesday interview of 2023:
Dealing with death is not something we would wish on anyone, but dealing with the death of a child is somehow thousands if not millions times worse than any feeling we could ever imagine.
A mother, Marlini Naidoo, contacted Carol Ofori recently to ask if she could help arrange a tribute for her daughter.
You see, Marlini has been through a tough time. Not only did she lose her husband (Vivendran) to a heart attack, but she also moved to Durban and saw the brunt of the pandemic, with unemployment at its peak.
Then she was diagnosed with cancer in September 2021, and her baby girl, Aranya, was found to have a brain tumour.
Life was seemingly unfair to her and her family. Aranya turned five on 20 January 2022 and then passed on in April. No parent should have to experience that. But the reality is that she is left without her beloved family and has to brave through each day.
Her plea to Carol wasn't extravagant or over-the-top. All she wanted was for her baby girl's singing to be played on-air. You see, young Aranya loved to sing and dance.
And mom, Marlini, always promised that somehow she would get her to sing on radio.
And, so, as we approach Aranya's heavenly birthday on 20 January, Marlini wanted to know if it would be possible to play her baby girl's singing on East Coast Radio.
Carol Ofori and her team were overcome with emotion after hearing Marlini's story.
Sometimes people come into our lives for a reason, it is difficult to see the reason. Especially when their lives are cut short at such a young age.
