#WCW: "The main theme of Diwali is light over darkness, good over evil, hope over despair"
She came through to chat to Carol Ofori about the festival of lights known as Diwali.
Carol Ofori is definitely the kind of soul that wants to delve into the diversity of different cultures. She has always expressed her amazement in the Hindu culture and since it is Diwali on Thursday, she decided to learn more about the festival of lights and educate others about what it means.
She invited Preshni Banger, a working mother of two, who is also a passionate food blogger and influencer on Instagram, to the studio to share the significance of Diwali with her and with the listeners of KZN.

Preshni came through to explain the story behind Diwali and shared that the festival isn't just associated with fireworks. There is a common misconception that Diwali is a reason to light fireworks, and that is far from the significance.
She shared that she has such fond memories of Diwali as a child, the excitement around preparing for the festivities, receiving new clothes, the cleaning up of one's home, the three oil baths, and the sense of family, which is tightly linked to sharing sweets.
She is our Woman Crush today. She reminds us that it is important to take time out of your busy schedule as a woman, a mother and a wife, and do something for you. Something that helps you express yourself, for her it is food. Celebrating food from her childhood, creating new recipes, and engaging with others on social media who are also passionate about food.
Preshni shared some of her home-made Diwali treats with Carol and the team and we have to say that they were divine. The notes of rose essence, the aromas of cardamom, and the texture of coconut, all allowed us to experience the festival of lights with her.

Carol made everyone giggle when she explained what she thought a 'sweetmeat' was. Of course, it wasn't what she expected but Preshni explained it so eloquently when she said that the sweetmeats are the gifts of love, where we share our light and love with everyone.
