#WCW: "First and foremost I am a mom to a beautiful daughter and I am an Entrepreneur"
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Today we celebrate a mother who doubles as a mom and glowing entrepreneur of a pizzeria in Amanzimtoti...
Not many people would give props to the pandemic for teaching them about how to adapt and be grateful. But Anel Quintal has brought a whole new meaning to dealing with COVID-19 and we wanted to celebrate her today.
When we asked her to tell us a little bit about herself, the first thing she said was; I am a mom to a beautiful daughter first and foremost, and I am an entrepreneur.
We absolutely love that she placed a priority on being a mother first, it truly says a lot about her.
Anel Quintal is the owner of Pizzeria Toscana and we were first introduced to this pizza joint after seeing their flashmob hit the 'Tube. We covered the story on our website and Anel got in touch with us afterward. After hearing just a small part of her story, we thought she deserved to be celebrated.
COVID-19 challenged Anel and her team to be more creative with their dishes as well as the way they run their business. For them, quality was something that they did not want to compromise on, regardless of the readjustment they have had to face with suppliers closing down during the pandemic.
The way she speaks about her business really sounds like she carries a lot of her passion to her job, into her team, with her customer service and not forgetting her community. She has such high praise to her team, including her niece, who she calls her "pillar of strength".
She shared the story as to how the flash mob came to be, and it was actually a local dance school that approached them with the idea. They asked Anel and her team if they would be interested in being part of their funding drive and they agreed. Since it was the birthday for the centre, where Pizzeria Toscana is located, they decided to do a flash mob as a way of celebrating their birthday.

She explained that their main goal in coordinating the flash mob was to create a 'buzz' that brought people together. It has been tough for everyone during COVID-19 and the aim was to give back to the community. Anel said that as much as some may think that flash mobs are outdated, it was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Even her staff and the regulars were spurred up with the excitement around the flash mob. She shared some valuable advice for other business owners, especially small business owners.

Remember why you started, remember what your focus was the second you started because this is why you are where you are and your focus must never shift. Always try to think outside the box, always try to think bigger and better because at the end of the day you need to be creative, you need to be the one that stands out.- Anel Quintal
Thank you for sharing your story with us Anel, today we are celebrating you as our Woman Crush Wednesday...
