WATCH: A runner at the Olympics is questioned for his fair play during the marathon
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Eliud Kipchoge from Kenya defended his title and took home Gold for the Olympics Marathon, but Morhad Amdouni is the one that everyone is talking about...
What started off as a means to allow friends to stay in touch, for people to express themselves, and for a platform to share content, has fast become a means of naming and shaming people.
Nowadays, you have to be weary of what you do and when and where you do it, because something innocent can appear to be harmful in a multitude of ways. And with social media, once it's out there you can never get it back...
It used to be more dangerous for those that are in the public eye, but that's no longer the case. It can be anyone, if you did something that could cause anyone to raise an eyebrow, then you can be damaged, no, wait, you can be dragged through the mud in a matter of minutes.
This is the case with French runner, Morhad Amdouni, who was caught doing something that looks malicious at first glance but could warrant a clear and objective eye on the second glance.
The video was from the Tokyo Olympics' Marathon from this past Sunday, 08 August 2021. A post that was shared to Twitter shows a pack of runners passing a water station. And then we see one of the runners using his hand to wipe out a line of neatly set water bottles.
Many people have taken to social media to discuss this act as one with maliciousness and an attempt to make sure fellow runners were left without water.
Piers Morgan took to Twitter to say: "The Gold medal for biggest d***head of the Tokyo Olympics goes to French marathon runner Morhad Amdouni who deliberately knocks over all the water for his fellow competitors...Unbelievable!"
The temperatures were said to have been quite warm, around 27°C, on the day of the marathon. So, these people who have made the judgement were concerned that many of the runners were left without water due to the Frenchman's actions.
Could this easily have been a mistake? We are not runners, but we know runners and many of them have said that it isn't easy grabbing one of those refreshments and running at the same time.
So it could just be that what looked like a swipe of the bottles was his way of trying to grab one of them. We guess that the fact that he managed to get the last bottle seemed dodge, but who are we to judge him...
All we can say is; don't always be quick to judge a video by its cover. It could literally ruin someone's life forever, and once it's out there, there's no taking it back.
