A man gets lost in Alaska and ends up having to fend off a grizzly bear for weeks before being noticed by the Coast Guard...
We hear about stories where people have gotten lost in the wild, but that happens a lot in the movies. In reality, we rarely hear about situations that sound like a scene from a horror or thriller.
A man, who had been visiting the Alaskan wilderness for some time, for mining, got lost out in the wild. It is said that he was lost out in the wild for many weeks. The part that left us even more scared for him involved a daily visit from a grizzly bear...
"The man had carved messages like "SOS," and "help me," into the top of the shack where he was taking shelter, which was near a river drainage area. According to the Times, a grizzly bear visited the man nightly and even ripped off the door to the shack before he was saved," Business Insider reports.
We can't imagine being left stranded in the middle of nowhere with no one to come to our rescue. But he went on for a few weeks. It was a miracle when the US Coast Guard spotted him as he waved his hands in the air trying to get their attention.

"At some point, a bear had dragged him down to the river," Carbajal told the Times. "He said that the bear kept coming back every night and he hadn't slept in a few days."
The Coast Guard mentioned that they spotted the man signaling them with a distress signal and knew something was wrong. They said that they were scouring the coastline for dead whales, seals, and walruses. Had they decided to take another route, they would've missed him completely.
