We don't think you would ever want to ask someone to house sit again after watching this video...
There are those times that you cannot take the furry family members away with you for that weekend getaway. In that case, the only other option outside of getting a friend or family member to check up on them, is to uproot them from their comfort and take them to a sitter.
To avoid all this, a woman decided to call in a house-sitter, which is a pretty common occupation for many people overseas. It comes with the understanding that they are professional house-sitters, meaning they take care of people's homes for a living.
Yes, it is a thing, but moving on, this woman literally left the house in a way worse state than she found it (or so we think)...
Cleanliness is a priority. No doubt about it. But that's a general thing, if you are a clean person and you invite someone over who's sole purpose is to care for your pets and your home, then the first rule of thumb would be to take care of it as if it was your own...
If not for anything else, then for the fact that this is your line of work, so you need to protect your reputation. But that's the complete opposite to what happened to this woman. She opened up her home to a house sitter, who literally trashed her house.

She had asked a family member to house sit, which we think is much, much worse, considering that as family, you have to see and speak to this person again...
Emily, whose house it was, explained in the video that she "wanted to capture the footage so as to ensure the person responsible for the mess couldn’t try to claim it ‘wasn’t that bad’, or accuse Emily of overreacting, and she sounded tearful as she implied it was the last time she would leave her home in their care." (UNILAD)
It was later revealed that Emily was upset because certain family members did not feel that this was a big deal, and she needed some validation that this was not acceptable. That is why she posted the video. Sometimes setting boundaries for your own sanity is important.
I would encourage others to remember it’s okay to put yourself first – just because someone doesn’t like a boundary doesn’t mean it’s not valid. It likely means that they benefitted more from the boundary-less version of you.
