Vodacom Durban July is still on track despite COVID-19 restrictions
The event of the year for many Durbanites and punters will be hitting the grass this year.
The event is both prestigious and a highlight for many South Africans, both fashion-forward and avid betters, and is set to stay on track despite the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
EThekwini Municipality Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda officially launched the event last week Thursday, the 17th of June. Durban Tourism has taken a hard knock due to the pandemic, as has the country and the world alike. So we imagine that it is only befitting that the city takes any opportunity it can take to make sure that the event of such calibre still takes place.
While people cannot experience our tourism products physically, they can be able to consume them virtually. This is what we committed to do when we launched our economic recovery plan last year to revive economic sectors that have been adversely affected.
Prior to the pandemic, the event would generate more than R300-million towards Durban's GDP, both from local and international visitors, IOL reports.

With innovative ways of curbing the pandemic, there is definitely hope that things will change and look up again for everyone. The Vodacom Durban July doesn't just host the racing and betting worlds, it includes fashion, entertainment, public relations, events, and tourism industries as well.
So holistically it brings in a range of industries that work together to grow Durban, KZN, and the country, because if one does well, then it's a good reflection for all.
