UPDATE: South Africa could be heading into a higher level of lockdown

With the numbers growing at a fast pace, the lockdown level could change for South Africa again.
We all think that we can do a better job when it comes to many situations. But the truth of the matter is that we don't know what it's like to be seated in the hot seat and the pressure of having to make an informed decision when it comes to leading your country towards the best path.
It's one of those situations where you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. So what should the President have done? We bet you just started sweating thinking about making such a big decision...
Government officials are set to meet this week with medical professionals and scientific advisors to discuss whether the country should go into a stricter lockdown level, similar to what we had last year.
Although the country went into alert level 3 as of the 15th of June, it seems the numbers are still rising rapidly and many hospitals are facing the brunt of it.
"However, some experts have already warned that these measures will not be enough to give relief to Gauteng’s struggling hospitals which are grappling with an influx in cases. A total of 5,218 people were hospitalised with Covid-19 in Gauteng as of Sunday (20 June)," reports Business Tech.
According to The South Medical Association (SAMA), the third wave will be far worse than the first two and they have criticised the South African government for not being stricter when it comes to the restrictions.
There should be tighter restrictions on gatherings, people should stay at home as much as possible, we need to look at the schools again, especially in Gauteng- Dr Angelique Coetzee

The reported new cases in South Africa as of Monday (21 June) was 9,160, which now takes the total reported cases to 1,832,479. Roughly 69% of these new cases were reported in Gauteng alone.
"Deaths have reached 58,795, while recoveries have climbed to 1,656,680, leaving the country with a balance of 117,004 active cases. The total number of vaccines administered is 2,114,204," Business Tech adds.
