While many people have been feeling the brunt of the pandemic, some have used it to their advantage and have experienced a growth in their businesses.
Many South Africans, including us have been talking about the tough times that we've all had to go through since the pandemic hit. Besides the uncertainty surrounding jobs, there is the fact that many have had to face salary cuts and readjust their lifestyles.
With all this going on, we noticed a peak in growth for many online businesses. Of course many people became internet savvy and even online equipped during the pandemic, as the restrictions pretty much forced their hands in evolving when it came to online shopping.
So it comes as no surprise that this online business has peaked in growth with sales of up to 63%. Luxity, a South African brand that sells second hand luxury items managed to sell a Hermès Birkin handbag for a total of R220,000 in a matter of minutes online.
The company that sells a range of luxury items noted a growth in their sales, and reported a growth of 63% in their sales during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some of the top favourites amongst shoppers include the Louis Vuitton brand and clients are now showing a keen interest for the Hermès brand as well as Chanel, which consequently don't have stores in South Africa. (Business Insider)
Luxity pride themselves on being the largest source of fashion brands in Africa. Some of their brands include Burberry London, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Versace and Tom Ford, to name a few.
We don't know about spending R220,000 on a handbag but we love that a South African business is doing well online and also catering for a market for South Africans.
