Toddler orders R17k worth of food from Uber Eats
You will think twice about leaving your kids with your phones this Christmas...
It certainly isn’t news to us when we hear kids being able to operate a smart device with great ease. It’s as if they were born with this innate ability to operate smart tech, it comes naturally to them.
So, we can all agree that it’s no surprise that when they start scrolling your smartphone, that they appear to know exactly what they are doing.
This was the case for a family in Australia. Many parents hand their phones over to their kids nowadays to keep them occupied, in this case the father handed his phone to his four-year-old.
What happened next got the dad seeing red…
His son had gone onto the UberEats app and ordered food to the value of R17,950.
I really looked at it, and it was R17,950, and we almost had a bloody heart attack. I flicked through the screen about 30 times. That’s how long the order was. It was like 99 cakes. I had steam coming out of my ears, first of all, screaming his name down the street. He ran to his room before I told him so.

According to the article, the little boy did tell his family that he ordered food, but no one took him seriously, until the food was delivered.
“Kris then explained how they called UberEats to explain what happened and lucky for them they got a refund, much to the delight of Kris who wondered what he would do with all that food and cakes.” (The South African)
Luckily, no one got to the food before then or that would’ve been tricky…
