South Africa ranked in top ten of most beautiful people in the world
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Don't look surprised, we all know that we are beautiful...
Not to sound egotistical, but as South Africans, there is a large part of us that acknowledges our beauty. We have such a wealth of diversity, which brings with it a sense of authentic beauty.
Of course, the saying indicates that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And as much as that is true, there is also key markers that are distinguished when it comes to beauty in terms of beauty pageants.
A study that looked at the birthplaces of more than 500 international beauty pageant winners, was conducted by Money UK to identify where the most beautiful in the world are from.
"When ranking the countries, the United States came in first place followed by Venezuela, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the Philipines, Australia, Colombia, Thailand, South Africa and Spain." (MSN)
Of course, if it were up to us, there is more to beauty than a pretty face. But this study was based on the past winners of the beauty pageant world. As much as South Africa featuring in the top ten makes us feel like gloating, we think it's important to remember that you don't have to be a beauty queen to be beautiful.
There are different forms of beauty, and they all don't conform to what the mainstream media has traditionally defined as beautiful. We appreciate beauty that comes in varied shapes, sizes, colours, and styles.
We can firmly say that when it comes to breaking the ideology, beauty queens such as Zozibini Tunzi, Shudufadzo Musida, and current Miss South Africa, Lalela Mswane, have and still are bringing focus to beauty that breaks boundaries.
Beauty is not defined by your hair, your make-up, your jewellery or your shape, these all add or accentuate your beauty, but true beauty comes when you appreciate your features and love yourself fully.
