SEE: Pair of black mambas caught in an entanglement in Reservoir Hills

In other words, they were mating...
When we talk about snakes, there is rarely a moment that we don't get a chill down our spine.
So we do not blame the victims of the most recent debut of black mambas in Durban, which happened in Reservoir Hills late last week.

After visiting the same premises earlier last month, Nick Evans recently shared an "exciting call" at an office premises.
Evans shared that the rescues they conduct aren't just a saving grace for many of the residents in and around Durban, but also contribute to their research. So as much as there was ample bush space to release these two black mambas, they decided to relocate them.
During this rescue, he was accompanied by Dr Cormac Price.
"When Dr.Cormac Price and I peered over the wall, and saw what you see in the photo, we were amazed! A pair of mambas cuddling! What a privilege to see something like this! We couldn't admire it for long, as they were going to go under the building." (Facebook)
His excitement surrounding this find comes from the amazing behaviour patterns revealed by these amazing creatures. Yes, realising that they too have needs and feelings makes us somewhat more understanding of them.

It seems that the female black mamba was furious that these mere humans were separating their engagement.
We don't blame her...
As Nick Evans shares on his post: "I grabbed the second one, and brought up the much larger mamba. It was furious! She wouldn't reverse into the tongs for me, and tried thrashing around. I managed to get her in the bucket with the tongs on the front quarter, and my left hand on the tail. Not a method I usually use, but I had space, for a change." (Facebook)
In the end it was all okay.
Evans said that he believed since it was mating season, the premises may get another visit soon from a male black mamba following the scent of the female from this rescue.
