LISTEN: Restaurant Association of SA calls for end to lockdown after closure of 1,100 eateries

The RASA has called on cabinet to ease the restrictions on eateries as many restaurants are struggling to keep their doors open...
With the official news that the third wave has hit us, it comes as no surprise that everyone is feeling the stress of this pandemic.
The stress is emotional, mental, physical, and, most of all, financial for many South Africans.
The Restaurant Association of South Africa has called upon cabinet to please end the restrictions on eateries.
"It believes thousands of restaurants across the country have closed their doors for good, leaving tens of thousands jobless. According to its survey 1,100 restaurants closed in recent months," MSN reports.
The effects don't just stop at restaurant owners, though, as it impacts the staff at those restaurants, who sometimes only work a few hours a day. It also impacts service providers (food and alcohol) who rely on restaurants for their businesses to stay afloat. It impacts on the entertainment industry - DJs and performers who rely on restaurant platforms to perform.
The effects are ongoing and snowballing, and we are just wondering how we will be able to recover from all of this. Considering that alcohol sales contribute to a large part of profits for these restaurants and also help the economy, we are not sure how everyone is going to survive.
Our country and the world are placed in a difficult situation as they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Is there a right way of looking at this, human life over the collapse of our economy?
Did one of your favourite eateries close due to the pandemic? Share the name of it as a way of showing some love to good memories and hope for a better tomorrow.
